My Go-To Fall Lips

Count me among the throngs who reach for deeper, more matte lip colour as soon as the temperature starts to drop.

I wanted to share two lip products that I’ve been loving this season. Both are incredible on their own, but together they make a great pair.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Lip Waterproof Lipliner Pencil in 14C ($24 CAD)

I bought this on a whim the last time I was in Sephora. It applied so smoothly to the back of my hand, I felt determined to take one home (choosing a shade was no easy task).

After browsing around the store for another lip product to pair this with, I ended up with 14C, a mid-tone rosy neutral. This liner, once set, does not budge and is totally waterproof. Application is dreamy; it wears comfortably throughout the day.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bahama ($33 CAD)

I chose Bahama to match a MUFE lipliner to. I have a few of these matte crayons from NARS, and I am a huge fan of the formula. These crayon-style pencils are extraordinarily comfortable and long wearing — they’re light, never sticky, and moisturizing enough that it’s hard to believe the finish is completely matte.

I consider Bahama to be a perfect MLBB shade for me. It evens out the tone of my lips (which are pretty pigmented on their own) while looking totally natural in colour and finish. It definitely has a lot of pink, but it is more brown and neutral than Dolce Vita, a popular shade in the range of velvet mattes.

The Velvet Matte Lip Pencils are so versatile: apply a light layer for a gentle wash of colour; apply more generously for super pigmented colour payoff. On its own, this pencil stays on the lips for hours. [Pro Tip: give the cap a little twist when replacing it to prevent it from popping off and flying across the room!]

My favourite way to wear Bahama is by applying it over the MUFE Aqua Lip Waterproof Lipliner. Doing so delivers a full-coverage, fall-ready, comfortable matte look that simply won’t budge.
